A light colour palette ensures the renovations to this house shine.
The epitome of cool contemporary style, this home offers a light-filled mix of super-smart modern design.
Is there anything more dreamy than a home that has been renovated to a level that includes a bold new kitchen, glass railing on open floating stairs and matt finished wide planked hardwood floors? No expense was spared, no detail overlooked in the top-to-tail renovation. The homeowners took the opportunity to open up the floor plans to ensure the flow of light and activity throughout the house.
Let the light shine in with hues inspired by nature
A consistent light colour palette of soft neutrals; creams, whites, blues and greys ensure that the space feels bright and open. The soft matt finished oak hardwood floors flow throughout the house including the floating stairs visually expanding the house beyond its generous proportions.
Modernist architecture and mid-century furniture pair perfectly. This terraced property, with its abundant space, provides all the accommodation the family needs for both living and working – a necessity in these pandemic times.
Smart beyond the design
This is a fully equipped smart home design including Lutron wifi smart lights, a smart dishwasher, smart washer and dryer, wifi garage door and a Nest thermostat and doorbell.
A kitchen to dream about
A solid wall of cabinetry in this one wall kitchen design has been developed to ensure every culinary need is met. The clever design alternative expanded the kitchen into the expansive dining and living space of our houses, even to incorporating ductwork within the cabinet design. The main wall houses a pantry, a block of wall ovens, cooktop and fridge amongst generous glossy-white custom cabinetry and a serious expanse of countertop prep space. Calacatta Quartz was used throughout, wrapping up the wall behind the cooktop allowing the eye to flow smoothly through the space. Opposite the main wall is a huge Calacatta Quartz waterfall island with sink and seating for four. In floor air vents, stained to match the floor, ensure an even floor of both heating and cooling. Sliding glass doors at the back of the kitchen allows for unfettered access to the terraced deck.
Sculptural lighting adds to the overall flair
Above the island and in the dining room, the homeowners have selected sculptural light fixtures that help set the tone for the overall design. The pendant lights above the island add glamour and curve to the straight design. A complimentary wave chandelier sits above the dining room table. An abstract painting in the dining room ties all the colours of the palette together.
The staircase received special attention
Replacing the existing spinals with glass and simple handrails, allows for a clear view throughout the expansive space.
Family room offers additional space for the family to spread out
An oversized family room on the second floor provides ample space for both family living and additional workspace. Large windows let in the western sun. Lounge worthy leather sofas provide a soft space to drop and watch a little TV. A round coffee table, both modern and functional, provides space for stacked book or movie snacks while allowing for a full flow of people through the space.
The master suite includes an oversized bedroom, fully renovated bathroom and a full walk-in closet with customer built-in cabinetry.
The other 2 bedrooms in the house are of equally generous size, soft colours and ample light.
A little unexpected
Throughout the renovation, the couple took the time to consider all the details – including a surprise powder room for guests. A small space with all the stops pulled out, the powder room incorporates fully tiled walls, on-trend gold colour fixtures and glitter lighting.
Even the back deck was not forgotten in this overall design
The kitchen flows seamlessly to the terraced back deck. Painted a charcoal grey, the wide space allows room for a large BBQ grill as well as seating perfect for picking up some rays or having a quiet drink at the end of the day.
